Vice Chancellor


IFHE strictly adheres to the UGC Regulations in the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor. The Vice-Chancellor shall be appointed by the Chancellor from a panel of three names suggested by a Search-cum-selection Committee. The composition of the Search-cum-Selection Committee shall be:


    (a) A nominee of the Chancellor
    (b) A nominee of the Central Government who shall be an eminent academic                 nominated by the Government, in consultation with UGC.
    (c) A nominee of the Board of Management.

Profile of the Present Vice-Chancellor
Prof. J Mahender Reddy is at present Vice-Chancellor of ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, a Deemed-to-be University under section 3 of the UGC Act, located in Hyderabad. As the Vice-Chancellor he has significantly contributed to the development of a research culture and a good leadership which enabled the University to secure ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Prof. Reddy got his Master’s degree from The Delhi School of Economics with distinction and a doctorate in Economics from the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada.

He was a Fellow of the Shastri Indo-Canadian Institute, at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada. ​​ He was Fulbright Fellow, at the University of Boston. He was the first Chair, in the Indian Ocean Studies, of the Indian Ocean Rim Association for Regional Cooperation, located at the University of Mauritius. He taught in the Faculty of Business Administration, at the University of Alberta in Canada, Saint Peter’s College in the United States, Administrative staff College of India, and at the Osmania University for over three decades, and won the Best Teacher award from the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

He has guided 14 PhDs and 9 M.Phil scholars in Osmania and ICFAI Universities. He was also the External Examiner for evaluation of doctoral dissertations in several state and central Indian universities. He has published forty research papers, and ten books, in the areas, of foreign trade and investment, business and economic forecasting and applied economics.

He was a member of the High Level Committees appointed by the UGC, ICSSR, the Government of Andhra Pradesh, and the government of India, Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA), and ICFAI. He was also a member of the FICCI Higher Education Committee. He was a member of the Governing Council of the Association of Indian Universities (2015-17) located in New Delhi.
