Guest Lecture
Dr.Kalpana Karunakaran, President (Indian Association of Women Studies, IAWS, Delhi) & Faculty at IIT Madras delivered a guest lecture on the title “Claiming Resources, Asserting Rights: Women's Collective Politics at the Grassroots” at ICFAI Hyderabad. The event was held on 14th February and organised by the Centre for Women Development at ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE).
Dr. Kalpana discussed the different models and various dimensions of Self-help groups (SHGs), and the different agendas of financial inclusion. She also discussed the nature and extent of domestic violence and group action, Capacity versus Power: Competing Discourses, and Women’s Trade Union from the Tamil Nadu state perspectives.
The event has brought together over 60 participants, including faculty members, research scholars, and students across different schools of IFHE: Prof S. Vijaya Laxmi, Registrar, Prof. C.S.Shylajan, Director, ICFAI School of Social Sciences (ISoSS), Dr V Padmavathi, Dr. Jayanthi Reddy, Dr. Sushanta Kumar Mahapatra, Dr Kalaa Chenji, Sanjib Dutta, Madhusudhan Rao.

The Centre for Women Development (CWD) at the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education (IFHE) successfully hosted an insightful expert session titled "X+1 FACTOR: The One Quality That Separates You from the Rest." The event was presided over by Dr. S. Vijayalakshmi, Chair, CWD-IFHE, and featured Mrs. Anu Bulusu, the visionary Founder of L5 a.i., as the distinguished keynote speaker.
Drawing from her extensive entrepreneurial journey and leadership acumen, Mrs. Bulusu delivered a highly motivating and interactive session. She focused on the concept of the "X+1 Factor"—the distinct, defining trait that elevates an individual beyond standard capabilities and ordinary metrics. Throughout her address, she encouraged the participating students and faculty to intentionally discover, cultivate, and harness their unique personal edges to stand out in an increasingly competitive professional landscape. The session concluded with a commemorative group photograph featuring the organizers, faculty members, and student coordinators, marking the event as a resonant success in fostering leadership and self-discovery.
